Abstract |
Captain Cocke recounts his background in Virginia, attendance at Bullis' Prep School, and experiences at U.S. Naval Academy. He comments on assignment to USS MISSISSIPPI, damage to the ship as result of a severe storm in the North Atlantic, and service in the Pacific after repairs were completed. He also describes training at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as a civil engineer; duty on Guam; and planning and construction assignments at Norfolk, Atlantic City, San Diego, Hawaii, Midway, Easter Island, Johnson Island, and Kwajalein. |
